OUR BERLIN-BASED AGENCY FOR ARTIST MANAGEMENT, LABEL SERVICES AND MUSIC CONSULTING
Today, we manage three incredibly talented hip-hop producers: Bluestaeb, digitalluc and S. Fidelity.
We offer label services on the digital end with a focus on instrumental hip-hop music. Some of the artists, who have released through Hosted by Kommerz: Bluestaeb, Brenk Sinatra, digitalluc, 7apes, Figub Brazlevic, George John, Katashi Kaitō, Klaus Layer, Modha, Portaledge, Rick Flair, S. Fidelity, Saiko, Saltyyyy V and Yousef Kekhia. In 2021 we started Berus as a subdivision of Hosted by Kommerz when when artist approached us with his plan to start a label for befriended musicians under the umbrella of his artist brand.
We consult various artists and brands such as ear-sight, Sichtexot, splash! Festival, Suol and Tereza among others (present and past).
Since 2018, we run PAPER BERLIN with our beloved friend Florian Czok. PAPER is a party series, which took place at Griessmuehle (Berlin), Zur Klappe (Berlin), Salon Zur Wilden Renate (Berlin), Neuzeit Ost (Berlin) and Jaki (Berlin). Since 2019 we're hosting our own PAPER stage at Melt Festival.
But our teenage dream to start a business as brothers dates back a decade at least. We, Lukas and Jonathan Nixdorff, share our love for hip-hop and music since forever. But thing's had to grow slowly. Fast forward, we moved to Berlin more or less about the same time and became co-founding members Nachtasyl Kollektiv. As a collective we reclaimed abandoned basements and yards all around the city hosting unforgettable raves between 2013 and 2017. At the same time, we organized another legal party series at Mensch Meier. At Am Boden we welcomed acts such as Mama Snake, Catnapp, Viktor, Tereza and many more. At this point we had both started to work in the music industry. Lukas as Manager International Licensing & Marketing at BMG Rights Management and me, Jonathan, as editor (and a bit later as editor-in-chief) at German hip-hop magazine splash! Mag. In order not to be bored of our daytime jobs we started side hustle.: As we were in love with the music, which would later become known as cloud rap, we founded PVDERZVXXER PO$$E, printing our own merch and endorsing artists such as Crack Ignaz and LGoony. Simultaneously, hip-hop producer Bluestaeb and I met at the casino on Potsdamer Platz (real talk!) and decided to try out a management relationship. Shortly after S. Fidelity joined the roster of artists and friends, and Lukas and me realized the time to finally join forces had come. Kommerz started out as Nachtasyl Kommerz, thought as the commercial branch of our non-profit rave collective. In 2017 things got real, when we decided to drop out of our 9-to-5's. To narrow things down we called it Kommerz (and only Kommerz), which evolved into Kommerz Records (our record label) and Hosted by Kommerz (our agency for artists management, label services, music consulting and all the rest).
